Did You Know ? There Is An International Museum Of Toilets
The Sulabh International Museum of Toilets in Delhi, India is a museum dedicated to the global history of sanitation and toilets. It was established in 1992 and has exhibits from 50 countries, showcasing sanitation artifacts from 3000 BC through the end of the 20th Century, arranged chronologically into "Ancient, Medieval and Modern" periods. The museum has been visited by many dignitaries from India and abroad and has received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
The museum has three sections, which describe the development of toilet-related technology throughout human history, social habits and etiquette specific to the existing sanitary situation, and the legal framework thereof. The items on display include Victorian toilet seats, water closets, chamber pots, toilet furniture, bidets, and privies. The display boards have poetry related to toilet and its use.
The Museum is open 7 days a week from 10 am to 6 pm on weekdays (Monday to Saturday) and from 10 am to 5 pm on Sundays and holidays. According to Holidify, a travel website, the museum can be visited for 1-2 hours.
The Sulabh International Museum of Toilets has been featured in Time magazine's list of "10 museums around the world that are anything but mundane".
